INTERNAL ORIGIN LOCATION

As discussed in this blog post, most users are confused about the invisible internal origin of the project. If you plan to import/export from CAD or share multiple Revit models with the same site, spotting this internal origin is important. Reference planes and red text annotations will display the location of this origin.

FUN AND USEFUL LINESTYLES

The linestyles in the default Revit template are really... boring. We made them more simple to use while creating additional styles that our users love.

TEMPLATE LEGEND VIEW

A common problem among Revit beginners is they become confused about what is included by default in the template. We fixed this issue by including a legend view called RP-Template Standards. This view contains all the text, dimensions, linestyles, filled regions, tags, view and annotation symbols. This way, you quickly understand what is going on in the project. Having a custom prefix name for all your families is important to keep your template clean. We use the RP prefix for all families. Also, we add another prefix element to distinguish all the family categories. This is a solid base you can use to rename the families to fit your office standards.

Nicolas is an architect, BIM specialist and founder of the website revitpure.com. He started using Revit in 2011 and quickly became passionate about BIM.

Nicolas worked at Atelier 21 Architects for almost ten years, where he participated as a designer and BIM manager on multiple large-scale projects.
